Adair County Sheriff’s Office Warns Residents of Probation and Parole Scam

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office has been notified of a scam targeting local residents.

According to reports, scammers contacted an individual while falsely claiming to represent Adair County Probation and Parole. The callers told the individual they were listed as an emergency contact for a family member who was incarcerated. The scammers reportedly knew personal details, including the person’s name, age, family members, and phone numbers.

The callers then requested $750 for an ankle monitor.

The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who receives a call of this nature to hang up immediately. Do not provide personal information, send money, or make payments to anyone claiming to need funds for an ankle monitor or similar expense.
