Rita Edmonds Berry, daughter of the late David Luther Edmonds and Hattie Elizabeth Bagby Edmonds, was born on Thursday, March 8, 1956 in Hart County and passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was 68 years, two months, and five days of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and cooking for everyone, especially her famous Country Ham. She was giving and the best Mother, Mamaw, and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Berry of Summersville, having united in marriage on March 9, 1974.
Other survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law: Maranda and John Milby, Tina and Jaime Durrett, April and Gage Wimsatt, Matilda and Ali Burton; six sons and daughters-in-law: James “JB” and Tabatha Berry, David Berry, Bobby and Alie Berry, Matt and Lacie Berry, Troy and Samantha Berry, Patrick “PJ” and Brooklyn Berry; 34 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Vicki and Mike McCubbins, Joyce and Jerry Scott; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gayle Edmonds, Martha and Monta Childress, Juanita and Boyce Dobson, Cindy Shelton, Suzy Berry, Finis and Babs Berry, Betty and Bro. Tom Downey.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son: Gregory Berry; four brothers: David Ricky Edmonds, Barry Keith Edmonds, Luther Edmonds, Bobby Lee Edmonds.

The funeral service for Rita Edmonds Berry will be conducted at 12 Noon, Central Time, Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bennett Cemetery. Bro. Tom Downey and Bro. Randall Jeffries officiating.
Visitation is requested from 4 until 8 P.M., Central Time, Wednesday and after 7 A.M., Central Time, Thursday until time of the service.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or Bennett Cemetery Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
