Late Error Costs Adair County in Narrow 4-3 Loss to Taylor County

Adair County Varsity Indians fell just short in a tightly contested matchup against Taylor County on Wednesday, losing 4-3 on a walk-off error in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Taylor County struck first in the second inning when an Adair County error allowed a run to score. The Indians responded in the third, tying the game at 1-1 on a passed ball.

Taylor County regained the lead in the fourth on a solo home run to center field by Cole Mclean, but Adair County battled back in the fifth. Jasper Kemp doubled to center, driving in a run, followed by an Aiden Smith sacrifice fly to give the Indians a 3-2 lead.

The game slipped away in the seventh. A double down the left field line by Reece Vaughn tied the game, and a costly error allowed the winning run to score, handing Adair County the heartbreaking loss.

Brayton Coomer turned in a strong start for the Indians, striking out nine over 6.2 innings and allowing just one earned run. Offensively, Kemp and Brody Brock each tallied a hit, while Kemp and Smith accounted for Adair’s two RBIs. The team showed plate discipline, drawing eight walks, with Coomer leading the way with four.

Despite the tough ending, the Indians showed resilience and competitiveness throughout, falling just one play short.
