Shirley Wayne Carter, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Orlando James and Nannie (Jeffries) Carter, was born March 10, 1936, in Green County and departed this life on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab. He was 89 years of age.
He was a former police officer for the City of Campbellsville from 1968-1986, the owner of Carter’s West Main Tire, and was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church in Green County.
Survivors include two daughters and a son: Debbie Carter-Mitchum, Patti Howard, and David Wayne and Becky Carter, all of Campbellsville.
Four grandchildren: Heather Barnes, Ashley Turpin, Shawn Carter, and Matthew Bright; four great-grandchildren: Tanner Barnes, Lauren Barnes, Brayden Carter, Colton Bright, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
The funeral service for Shirley Wayne Carter will be on Monday, August 25, at 12 Noon in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
