Last Friday night, the Campbellsville Eagles proved once again that home turf is Eagles turf, dominating Bethlehem 47–21 in their first playoff game after securing a first-round bye. From the opening kickoff, Campbellsville controlled every inch of the field—on the ground, through the air, and especially on defense.
The Eagles’ offense was firing on all cylinders, piling up 205 rushing yards while allowing –8 rushing yards on the other side of the ball. Senior quarterback Kace Eastridge delivered a flawless performance, completing all 6 of his passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 35 rushing yards and two more scores to power the offense.
Junior Jalen Embry paced the ground game with 61 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore Les Colvin added 48 yards rushing and put on a show through the air, hauling in 2 receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Christian Hart also made big plays, catching two passes for 77 yards, including a touchdown.
On defense, the Eagles were relentless, racking up 71 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. Junior Shaiden Calhoun led the charge with 11 total tackles, while seniors Cole Kessler, KeKe Miller, and junior Max Contreras helped shut down Bethlehem’s offense from start to finish. Miller also came up with the team’s lone fumble recovery of the night.
Freshman kicker Benjamin Grubesic added five extra points, rounding out the Eagles’ 47-point performance.
With the win, Campbellsville now turns its focus to a familiar postseason opponent: Newport Central Catholic. The Thoroughbreds will travel to Campbellsville for a 7 p.m. EST kickoff this Friday. The two teams met in last year’s third round, where the Eagles edged out a 27–24 victory.
Campbellsville will once again look to defend their home turf—this time with a trip deeper into the playoffs on the line. If last Friday’s performance was any indication, the Eagles are soaring at just the right time.
