Sheriff Roy: “I have received a couple of complaints, from people that have family members incarcerated in the Adair County Jail, that someone is pretending to be an employee of the jail and is trying to get them to pay cash for a bond, so the family members can get out of jail.
This is not true, this is a scam. I have spoken with Jailer Buddy Powell and he stated the only way you can pay a bond is in person, at the jail or at the courthouse.
Jailer Powell stated that jail staff will not call you and ask you to send money to anywhere, for any reason.
I’d like to remind you to never give any personal information out to anyone on the phone.
