Columbia, KY – The Adair County Lady Indians were unable to overcome a strong performance from the Taylor County Lady Cardinals, falling 9-0 on Monday in a tough matchup.
Despite gathering 12 hits in the game, Adair County couldn’t find the spark needed to convert their opportunities into runs. The Lady Indians battled back with solid at-bats but couldn’t break through. Gracie Gist, Allee Campbell, Jade Waggner, and Keylin Bergin each collected two hits for Adair County, but they were unable to string hits together to get on the scoreboard.
Taylor County’s offense continued to roll in the third when Ayden French launched a three-run homer to center field, extending the Lady Cardinals’ lead to 7-0. With a commanding lead, Taylor County added two more runs in the later innings, and their defense stood strong, not committing a single error throughout the game.
Keylin Bergin, who took the loss for Adair County, struggled in the early innings but battled through three innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking two. Despite the tough loss, she and the rest of the Lady Indians stayed aggressive at the plate, but Maddie Hunt’s steady pitching for Taylor County kept them from capitalizing.
Hunt went the distance for the Lady Cardinals, allowing 12 hits but keeping Adair County off the board with a solid performance, striking out four and walking none.
