DALLAS, Texas — WKU Volleyball’s redshirt-sophomore Callie Bauer was named to the 2023 Conference USA All-Academic Team on Friday the conference announced. This is the second All-Academic award for the Tops’ primary setter.
With Bauer’s accolade, the Hilltoppers have now had at least one honoree in all 10 seasons in Conference USA. WKU Volleyball has had 16 student-athletes earn a spot on the All-Academic Team in that span.
All athletes that were nominated were selected by a combination of academic and athletic accomplishments.
Bauer, playing her second full season for the Tops as the leading setter, has risen to a 3.80 GPA in management in her six semesters on The Hill. As a regular on both the Dean’s and President’s List at WKU, Bauer was named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and earned the Academic Medal in Fall of 2021 and 2022. Playing in every single set thus far this season, Bauer is second in the conference in total assists and assists/set. She picked up a double-double to open the 2023 season and is currently in the top 10 in program history in career assists.
The Hudson, Michigan native has helped the Hilltoppers to a 25-4 overall record on the 2023 fall campaign including the CUSA regular season championship with a perfect undefeated streak in conference play. Her stellar play has helped WKU to a national ranking and receiving votes all season as well a top-five ranking in team hitting percentage (.307).
