Big Weekend for High School Football Across Kentucky

It was another exciting weekend under the Friday night lights as teams from across the Commonwealth battled it out in some key matchups leading into the postseason. Several local squads made headlines — some celebrating big wins, others regrouping after tough losses — as playoff football quickly approaches.

The Campbellsville Eagles pulled off one of the biggest wins of the weekend, knocking off top-ranked Kentucky Country Day with an impressive 27–17 victory. The Eagles’ defense came up big, slowing down one of the most explosive offenses in Class 1A. With that statement win, Campbellsville looks to carry their momentum into this Friday’s game against Adair County. They’ll then turn their attention to the postseason, where they’ll face Ballard Memorial on November 7 in the opening round of the Class 1A UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals.

Meanwhile, the Green County Dragons hit a bump in the road, falling to the Monroe County Falcons on the road by a score of 47–7. Despite the setback, the Dragons are ready to bounce back when they take on East Jessamine this Thursday. Green County will then open their postseason run against Danville in the Class 2A State Tournament.

The Taylor County Cardinals also faced a tough night away from home, dropping their matchup to the Marion County Knights 30–14. The Cardinals will look to regroup quickly as they prepare to take on LaRue County this Thursday before turning their focus to Paducah Tilghman, their opponent in the opening round of the Class 4A State Finals.

And for the Adair County Indians, Senior Night was one to remember. The Indians earned a strong 35–14 win over Butler County, closing out their home schedule in style. Adair County now shifts its attention to this Friday’s showdown at Campbellsville. After that, the Indians will meet Murray in the first round of the Class 3A State Finals.

As the regular season winds down and playoff football looms, fans across the region are gearing up for what promises to be an exciting November of gridiron action in Kentucky.
