The Green County Food Pantry received a significant boost this week with a $20,000 donation from the Horseshoe Bend Solar Project, a development by ENGIE North America.
Solomon Van Meter with ENGIE North America presented the check to Pantry Director Linda Judd during a gathering that also included Pastors Adam Marcum and Bren Bishop of the Green County Ministerial Association, along with Green County Judge-Executive John Frank. The gift will help the pantry continue its mission of serving families across the community.
During the presentation, Pastor Bren Bishop shared a history of the Green County Food Pantry and reflected on its growth over the years.

Judge-Executive John Frank also offered comments on the pantry’s growth, noting how it has been able to serve more local families in recent years. He praised the work of volunteers and community partners who help make the pantry’s outreach possible.

Representing ENGIE, Solomon Van Meter emphasized the company’s commitment to the community as the solar facility prepares to begin construction. Van Meter said ENGIE wanted to support the pantry’s mission in providing food for local families.

The Horseshoe Bend Solar Project, planned for the Pierce area of Green County, is expected to generate 60 megawatts of electricity once constructed.
Pantry Director Linda Judd and Green County Ministerial Association President Adam Marcum closed the gathering by pledging to use the donation efficiently and to increase the pantry’s ability to keep people fed.

The Green County Food Pantry currently serves more than 300 families each year.
With construction on the horizon, representatives emphasized that the Horseshoe Bend Solar Project is not only about producing renewable energy but also about investing in the communities it calls home.
