The City of Columbia in collaboration with the Arts Administration Program at Lindsey Wilson University will be planning a Mark Twain Storytelling Festival in June in Columbia.
The local Adair County Genealogy Center will be assisting with the project.
This will be the inaugural year of the festival. They hope to make it a reoccurring event annually for the community.
Jane Lampton Clemens, the mother of Mark Twain, was born in Adair County and grew up in Columbia, Kentucky. Her material grandfather was Colonel William Casey (of which Casey County, Kentucky was named).
“We are excited to work with the Arts Administration program at Lindsey Wilson University on this event for our community,” said Mayor Pamela Hoots.
More details will be available later on activities planned for the event.
