Lady Dragons Battle Until the Final Buzzer, Close Out 2025–26 Season in 5th Region Tournament

The 2025–2026 season for the Green County Lady Dragons came to an end in the opening round of the 5th Region Tournament as Green County faced off against the Campbellsville Lady Eagles. Despite a determined effort and strong individual performances, the Lady Dragons were unable to overcome offensive struggles, closing the curtain on a season defined by youth, growth, and resilience.

Green County generated quality scoring opportunities throughout the contest but struggled to convert consistently. The Lady Dragons finished the night shooting 15-of-52 from the field (28.8%), a number that ultimately proved difficult to overcome against postseason competition.

From beyond the arc, Green County connected on 2-of-13 three-point attempts (15.4%), limiting their ability to stretch the defense and create momentum runs. At the free-throw line, the Lady Dragons went 7-of-19 (36.8%), leaving valuable points unclaimed in what was otherwise a competitive effort.

Despite the shooting challenges, Green County battled on the glass, pulling down 34 total rebounds, helping keep possessions alive and preventing the game from slipping away early.

Defensively, the Lady Dragons showed toughness throughout the matchup. Their rebounding presence — led by aggressive play in the paint — allowed Green County to remain competitive possession by possession. Hustle plays and second-effort rebounds reflected the team’s continued growth, particularly from a roster featuring multiple freshmen and underclassmen gaining valuable postseason experience. Sophomore Scout Brockman anchored much of that physical effort, securing a game-high 12 rebounds while consistently battling inside against Campbellsville’s frontcourt.

Brockman delivered a strong performance, leading Green County with 15 points while attacking the basket throughout the night. She added 12 rebounds, recording a double-double and providing leadership on both ends of the floor. Brockman also accounted for five made free throws, showing aggressiveness driving into contact.

Freshman Isabella Clopton continued to showcase her offensive potential, finishing with 9 points on an efficient 4-of-8 shooting performance, including Green County’s most effective three-point shooting effort of the night. She also added 4 rebounds, demonstrating versatility for a young player on the regional stage.

In her final game as a Lady Dragon, senior Bailee Willis made the most of her opportunities, scoring 6 points on 75% shooting (3-of-4) from the field. Willis provided steady veteran leadership and experience, closing out her Green County career with an efficient and composed performance.

Freshman Brooklyn Jewell contributed across multiple areas, scoring 6 points, knocking down a three-pointer, and grabbing 4 rebounds while helping handle perimeter responsibilities throughout the contest.

Sophomore Chloe Fortner added 3 points and collected 6 rebounds, giving Green County additional interior toughness and defensive effort.

While the loss marks the end of the Lady Dragons’ postseason run, it also highlights the foundation being built within the program. Green County’s roster featured one senior, two sophomores, and a large freshman class, signaling significant experience returning for the future. Players such as Baylee Bishop, Lydia Corbin, Kylee Hargan, Parker Hodges, and Rebekaha Pruitt gained valuable varsity and postseason minutes that will help shape the program moving forward.

The final buzzer against Campbellsville not only ended a tournament game — it brought the 2025–2026 Green County Lady Dragons basketball season to a close. Through adversity, development, and competitive growth, the Lady Dragons continued to lay groundwork for seasons ahead.

With nearly the entire roster expected to return, Green County exits the year not simply with an ending, but with momentum — and the experience gained under postseason lights will serve as fuel for the next chapter of Lady Dragons basketball.
