Crews worked together to locate a lost/tired kayker in a remote area of Green River. Luckily Greensburg 911 and Campbellsville 911 was able to obtain cell phone ping allowing us to narrow down the search area from nearly 15 miles to 1 mile. Crews deployed a rigid hull jet boat to gain access to the subject that was located in shallow water. The subject was uninjuired but cold and thirsty.

We’re also grateful to our other Campbellsville Fire crews who remained in service to cover local emergencies.

Strong partnerships and teamwork make all the difference when every second counts. Thank you to everyone involved!

Here is some Kayak Safety Tips

• Always wear a properly fitted life jacket.

• Carry a whistle to signal for help.

• Dress for water temperature, not air temperature.

• Paddle with a buddy whenever possible.

• Avoid areas with strainers (fallen trees, debris, or obstacles in the water).

• Carry a dry bag with essentials: phone/radio, first aid kit, water, and snacks.

• Know your route and check water levels before launching.

Stay safe, and enjoy our rivers responsibly!
