Richard “Shorty” Colvin

Mr. Richard “Shorty” Colvin of Campbellsville, son of the late Ezra and Ester (Mardis) Colvin, was born in Taylor County on June 2, 1940. He departed this life on Monday, August 4, 2025 at this home surrounded by his family. Mr. Colvin had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Noels Chapel Church of God. He was a retired truck driver by trade and had served his country honorably in the United States Army. On December 10, 1966, he married the love of his life, Jo Land, and they remained a devoted couple until her passing on March 5, 2022.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son: Robbin Colvin; a brother: Russell Colvin and a sister: Margaret Parrott.

He leaves to cherish his memory:

A daughter: Colleen Hunt and husband Steve,

A sister: Geraldine Bennett and husband Ron,

Two grandchildren: Drew Hunt, and Courtney Vaughn and husband Clint,

A dearly loved great-grandson: Collin Vaughn,

Five sisters-in-law: Marjorie Colvin and Anita Land, both of Campbellsville, Shirley Land of Liberty, Sharon Harne of Liberty, and Sandy Oney and husband Garry of Mt. Vernon,

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

At the request of Mr. Colvin, cremation was accorded him by the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Following a private interment service, he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the Noels Chapel Church of God Cemetery because, according to Mr. Colvin, anything more was “not necessary”.
