Tragedy in Washington County: Tornado Leaves Fatalities and Injured Residents

Early this morning, a tornado hit Washington County—as of 9:48am reports confirm one fatality and seven people injured.

“As everyone already knows, southeastern Washington County was hit by a tornado this morning around 7 AM especially in the Long Run Road area.

Every department in Washington County responded to coordinate a very difficult search and rescue mission.

We had support from Marion, Nelson, Mercer, Boyle, and Woodford County’s with additional support from all over the state.

Our hearts are heavy for those that have been injured, displaced, and for the family of the deceased.

Our small County isn’t used to having these kinds of emergencies. I think everyone did an amazing job in this search and rescue effort.

Please stay out of the Long Run Road area so damage can be property assessed and mitigated.

All though the tornado is gone, this will be an incident that will linger around for days and weeks to come.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to everyone that helped with this effort.”
