CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – When do you call on Jesus? When you are anxious, need help on an exam or when life is going wrong?

At CU’s chapel on March 19, Madison Wigginton, a CU alum, suggested students should welcome Jesus into all areas of their lives, not just when life is going bad.

Wigginton opened by telling students about the invitation that Jesus offers – an invitation that requires a response.

Jesus lived, went to the cross, laid His life down and rose from the grave to offer salvation to anyone who believes and calls on His name.

“God is inviting you to be a part of His story,” Wigginton shared.

Furthermore, when a person accepts Christ, then He begins to craft a new story, a new path for their life in the way He wants.

Wigginton used the story from John’s Gospel where Jesus meets with the disciples when they are out on the sea at night. She shared this story to illustrate that, when a person meets with Jesus, it is life-changing.

“Jesus doesn’t ask Peter and the other fishermen to come to Him,” Wigginton noted. “He doesn’t need a grand entrance or a red carpet for Him to go to them. He just gets in their boat.”

Wigginton added, “Everything changes for Peter when he lets Jesus on his boat.”

Wigginton said that the changes that come when Jesus lives in your heart do not always come easily. It comes with a person leaving their sinful life behind in pursuit of the life Christ has for them.

Wigginton noted, “He says, ‘I need you to leave behind the life you’ve always known. I need you to leave your comfort and your security and everything that seems good. I need you to leave it behind and follow me.’”

Wigginton ended by proclaiming, while Jesus is offering His salvation, no one can make you choose Him.

“It is up to you to make the choice to let him in your boat,” Wigginton added. “Let him in your insecurities. Let him in your anxiety. Let him in the thoughts that make you feel like you’re not good enough.”

Wigginton was recognized at the beginning of chapel for being a member of the CU Lady Tiger basketball team when she was a student at Campbellsville University.
