Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Hart County

At approximately 8:24 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 03 received a call about an injury collision. Troopers responded to the scene in the 1600 block of South Dixie Highway.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a horse and carriage operated by Melvin Miller, of Horse Cave, was traveling north on South Dixie Highway.  2025 Ford F250 operated by John McBride, 38, of Munfordville, was also traveling north on South Dixie Highway when it collided with the back end of Mr. Miller’s carriage. Sara Miller, 81, of Horse Cave, a passenger in Mr. Miller’s carriage, was transported by Hart County EMS to the Medical Center at Caverna, where she was pronounced deceased. Mr. Miller was airlifted to the University of Louisville, where he will be treated for his injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing and will be led by Detective Bo Hubbard. He was assisted at the scene by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Hart County EM, S, and other KSP personnel.
