Rick Wilson

Rick Wilson of Campbellsville, son of the late Harry Wilson and Virginia Stroup Wilson, was born May 6, 1952 in Adair County, Kentucky. He died at 5:43 A.M., Monday, May 25, 2026 in Campbellsville. Age: 74

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Heartland Church.

Rick served his country honorably in the United States Army as a Drill Sergeant.

A graduate of Campbellsville High school, he was a standout multi-sport athlete, being named Courier-Journal All-State Honorable Mention in 1970. He continued his basketball career at WKU and Campbellsville University. His love of sports transitioned after college from competition to contribution. He began his professional career as the Sports Editor for the Central Kentucky News-Journal before joining H&W Sports, where he spent 50 years traveling across the state of Kentucky working with high school coaches and athletic teams. He was inducted into the 5th Region Athletic Directors Hall of Fame, the KY Softball Hall of Fame, and the Campbellsville Athletic Hall of Fame. The 5th Region All-Tournament teams for both boys and girls were recently renamed in his honor as well. He had just recently been named a Kentucky Colonel and was awarded the 2026 Bob Miller Oustanding Service Award, which recognized his dedication and unwavering commitment to Kentucky High School Athletics. Rick had built deep roots in the Campbellsville community, serving the university, Campbellsville High School, numerous youth leagues, and the City-County Park leagues in countless ways.

Rick united in marriage to Tammy Ford July 26, 1995.

Besides his wife, Tammy Wilson, Rick is survived by four sons: Robbie Wilson and significant other, Cara Lamb of Louisville, Eric Wilson and wife, Amy of Louisville, Connor Wilson and wife, Karson of Campbellsville, and Aidan Wilson of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Kyler Wilson, Catherine Wilson, Kamden Wilson, and Ryeanne Lamb; one brother, Robert Pickett; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Rick was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Margaret Carroll, Samuel Grier, and David Pickett.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Campbellsville High School Gymnasium by Speaker David Petett and Pastor Chapman Bean

BURIAL: Brookside Cemetery with Full Military Honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard
